The Youngs

Andrew's parents met and married on Teesside. The Young family originally came from Scotland. Andrew's grandmother was a MacLennan.

Andrew grew up in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, where his parents were medical doctors and were involved in many local organisations.  He studied law at Nottingham University and practiced in Yorkshire until illness forced him to give up.  Followng a successful kidney transplant in 1979, he moved to London and continued to work as a lawyer in the civil service until ill health retirement in 2003.

His kidney transplant has now (Dec. 2011) worked for over 32 years.

Andrew has had poor sight since birth and is registered as "blind".
